Bringing the Christmas Spirit Home

We were entertained by marching bands, carolers and costumed participants of all ages.

The historic town of Jacksonville celebrated the season with their annual Christmas parade Saturday morning.

We grabbed a spot curbside to enjoy the festivities before heading for the mountains in search of the perfect Christmas tree.

We tromped through the muck, determined to find and cut the best tree in the forest. It proved to be more difficult (but lots more fun) than searching the aisles of a Christmas tree lot. Having made our choice, we were a little surprised to see just how tall our tree was once we got it back home.

That’s the best way to get a xmas tree! So…how much did you have to trim it?

We’ve not yet, moved it into the house…there’s a good chance that struggle will create content for another post! Wish us luck Jeannie.

Looks like Christmas is definitely on it’s way to Ashland! You’ve settled in quite nicely. The parade happened in Mariposa yesterday; I was in San Jose at a huge flea market with some gfs. Chilling out today in between cleaning, turkey soup making & catching up on NY phone calls. I look forward to more pics & more stories.

Hi Ellen: Yes, Ashland feels more and more like home. It felt kind of strange to put the Christmas decorations out in our new home…and we nearly needed a crane to hoist Reg’s tree in place! New memories for sure!!! Glad all is well with you. Any good flea market finds????

Next year you’ll be marching with those bag pipers right Reg?

I can’t wait to see the tree all decorated!
