Camino in France – Miles to go

Day 6 – Saint-Albaun to Aumont-Aubrac

We surprised ourselves today, arriving early enough to enjoy a cold limonade (Sprite) at a local bar and even catch a few winks before checking in our hotel.

Saint-Albaun quickly fades in the distance.

Day 7 – Aumont-Aubrac to Nasbinals

Today (Saturday) was our longest day yet, just shy of 17 miles according to our itinerary. We crossed our fingers and hoped our guidebook was correct in labeling the route easy to moderate.

Église Sainte-Marie de Nasbinals.

Our room at the hotel/bar was located in the heart of Nasbinals, just behind the church pictured above. It was quite the local scene on a Saturday night. A live band (birthday celebration) set up below our window and played music and sang until 11:00 P.M. and let me tell you, they were awful! When they finally packed up, recorded music continued until 1:00 A.M. All this in addition to the church bell tower ringing out every hour and half hour, all night long. I can laugh because I slept through it all. Reg is just now beginning to see the humor.

Day 8 – Nasbinals to Saint-Chély-d’Aubrac

After yesterday’s marathon walk and less than restful night, we were thankful for a short 10-mile day. We grabbed sandwiches and hit the trail.
Check out the two slideshows below.

Arriving in Saint-Chély I was nearly dragged off to an unknown fate.

  1. You guys are having way too much fun! Keep up the “carb” intake , you’ll need it for those hills.
