Camino in France – Out of the Mountains

Day 14 – Conques to Decazeville

Our guidebook was not kind, describing Decazeville as a “gritty and workaday town,” so we weren’t expecting much culture for our Saturday night.

After some major confusion over our hotel check-in procedure, we bonded with a Canadian couple and an Australian couple, spending a marathon evening…of yet more confusion…as we waited for dinner. Wonderful conversation, much laughter and wine for €1.50 per glass helped pass the 2-1/2 hours we waited until dinner was served. A bit of local culture and the best sausage of the trip…so far!

Day 15 – Decazeville to Montredon

Today was a short day, just 7 miles, but the hills and the heat continue to challenge us regardless of the mileage.

Our Sunday night home.
