Camino in France – Sunday, a Day of Rest

Day 21 – Lalbenque to Cahors

After getting picked up from the trail Friday afternoon, we left Lalbenque early Saturday morning, on foot, armed with a map to guide us back to the trail. A little surprised our host didn’t offer a return trip for us, but since he was a one-man-show, the official driver, registration clerk, cook, server…perhaps dishwasher and housekeeper too, we understood. We gladly walked the extra miles. He was an amazing host.

The Saturday market was gearing up for a busy morning, offering local fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, wines and more.

The fruit and vegetables were gorgeous.

Day 22 – Cahors Rest Day

We had a lazy morning. Well deserved, I think. The sun was back as we strolled the streets of Cahors and explored along the riverfront.
But what captured our attention was the 11th century Cathédrale Saint-Etienne. While there have been renovations over the years, it remains impressive – both inside and out.

Cathédrale Saint-Etienne

Tomorrow we’ll pack up and move on, extremely thankful our Sunday was a day of rest.

  1. Hi you two:
Our queen Margrethe’s deceased consort prins Henri, came from Cahors, where they also had a summer home (castle – Chateau Caix )..on Gitta’s birthday last month we drank a bottle of wine from his winery there

    1. That’s an interesting little tidbit…Cahors is very proud of their wine. I’ll bet your bottle was good. We had some Malbec wine that was pretty tasty.
