Day 10

Another pretty day greeted us on Day 10. We were headed to Torrenieri, 12 miles away with 1,640 feet of ascent.

Our trail followed the contours of the hills as it passed by vinyards and agriturismos. Finding a picnic table or a bench when lunchtime rolls around isn’t usually easy, so we try to settle for a great view. I think we succeeded on Sunday.

The view from afar appeared to be a fairly modern place, but it’s believed that a castle sat on the site of the town as early as the 9th or 10th century.
Once we got checked into our accommodation, did our chores and showered we were ready to explore a little more. Our host had made us dinner reservations, which was really nice, but we were sure what to expect.
The evening turned out to be one of the most lively we’ve had. The restaurant was great, food was delicious and halfway through our meal two of our Italian trail friends (from our previous night) wandered in and sat next to us.
