Day 1
The time had come to get back on the trail and we were ready. The pub crowd below our bedroom Wednesday night was heavily vested in the televised soccer/football match, cheering, drinking and carrying on. Once it became clear the match was over, the music started up until about 11:00. Fortunately we had an easy 6-mile day ahead of us, so a good night’s sleep was not essential.

So nobody could accuse us of cheating, we made the short walk back into town to the official starting point of The Cotswold Way. The marker is located next to the iconic Market Hall.
Built in 1627, the hall provided shelter for traders, and is still used by crafters and sellers today. The National Trust owns the property, maintaining it and keeping it safe for future generations.

Today’s walk began with (what else) a pretty decent uphill climb. Our destination: the tourist town of Broadway, just six miles away. But first, we had lots of distant views, sheep pastures, wheat fields, acres of fields of what we think were peas and even a tower perched atop a hill.

Tomorrow we’ll take our show on a 12-mile trek off-Broadway. See you then…
