The Cotswold Way-No Tipping

Day 2

The sun was out and it was a beautiful day. Our guidebook promised a 12-mile walk to Winchcombe which is where we would spend the night. It also promised a couple pretty steep climbs and we tackled the first one soon after leaving the town limits of Broadway.

The town of Broadway spread out below us.

Today we skirted around fields of sheep, came head-to-head with some horses who expected to receive a goody before allowing us to pass and a herd of cattle, all hurrying to stand together under a tree that offered no shade.

Then we came to this gate.

Happily, we made it across the field and out the opposite gate without incident.
Except for the two relentless climbs and the potential bullfight, we had a pretty low-key day…and that’s OK.

  1. Or it could mean “no cow tipping” – a long cherished (but unknown) English tradition. 😉

    1. I hadn’t thought of that one. Yesterday we saw a roadside sign the warned “no fly-tipping.” Gotta love the English!
