It seems like a long time ago that we were in Dublin, Ireland, but we have been home just four days. We flew over to lend moral support and a little muscle (IKEA bags can get heavy) for son Andrew and daughter-in-law Charlotte as they settled in the country they now call home.

It was on the flight home that we realized we had managed to spend ten days in a European country without so much as one euro to our name. I suppose we are showing our age, but normally we head to our local bank for a supply of foreign currency prior to flying overseas. Cards rule any and all cash transactions (at least in Ireland), much like they do in our country. Perhaps it’s time to rethink our approach. With family now living overseas, it’s a sure bet we’ll be on another flight across the Atlantic. Traveling without a stack of euros or British pounds is one less thing to worry about prior to leaving.
