Window Rock is an eroded sandstone opening.

The Navajo Code Talkers played a critical role in World War Two.

Window Rock is the capital city of the Navajo Nation and also the name of this geologic wonder about a mile from town in Arizona near the New Mexico border. The Navajos have a nice park next to the rock that features a memorial to the Code Talkers of World War Two.

We booked a room for three nights in Santa Fe at the Luxx Boutique Hotel that advertises hip and stylish accommodations. We weren't sure what to think, but went for it for two reasons: It is a block from the downtown plaza and has very low rates, especially for the location.

We were pleasantly surprised by the room at the Luxx Hotel.

I loved Santa Fe. I bought some painted ponies that were replicas of large live ponies artists did for various occasions. There is a lot of Art in Santa Fe. The center Plaza is fun and the museums also. Don’t you love the red rocks and the blue sky? There is a healing place up the road that attracts many people. I never got to go there but met a man that wrote a book about it. Can’t remember the name but if you find out let me know. You are well educated and well traveled. More power to you!!!

Enjoying your pics and posts! Santa Fe is filled with art-Nice that you are near the plaza! Check out “reciprocol” museum benefits. If you are a member of one museum there are often benefits for admission fees, discounts, or even extended hours. This worked when I could use my membership to the DeYoung Museum in San Francisco at some museums in Santa Fe!

Thank you, Carolyn. We share your enthusiasm about Santa Fe. It has a vibe similar to Ashland, but some of the art galleries here seem a bit more upscale. Love the plaza and art vendors. We had a great, affordable dinner last night at the Blue Corn Cafe. I had New Mexican Shepherd’s Pie.
