Day 10 – Saint-Côme-d’Olt to Estaing

The incredibly picturesque village of Estaing was our destination today (Tuesday).

We were stumped at what was a bit of modern technology in this ancient village. Have you ever seen anything like it?

This was a mystery. An automated pizza machine?

A week after meeting them, we bumped into fellow Americans Joy and JR and enjoyed lunch together before they moved on to their next stop.

Reg made a stop in the pharmacy for some help with an achilles injury. The pharmacy workers we’ve dealt with in Europe have always been incredibly professional and helpful and today was no different. In the blink of an eye, Reg was measured, fitted and instructed how to use his new brace.

We hope this will do the trick so we can get back to our walking. We’ll bus to our next two destinations, giving his leg a good rest…then see how it goes.

Day 11 – Estaing to Golinhac

The folks at our hotel in Golinhac have been wonderful, allowing us to spend hours in the restaurant until we were able to check into our room.

Here’s hoping the brace works healing wonders! While Reg is resting his heel, you’ll have a bit more time to explore? Ore does he have to stay off it for a bit? We have seen the crazy pizza vending machines! In the parking lot of a small French village we stopped to visit, two young guys were making a delivery of about 10 boxes of pizza to the machine…baguettes are also being sold this way in small villages without boulangeries!

  The brace seems to be helping. We will bus to Conques tomorrow morning and are scheduled for 2 nights. Hope to begin walking again after that. Curious how the vending machines work. How long before we have them in the U. S.?
