We’ve had some long days, 21 miles today (day 25) and over 50 miles in the last three days, but we are over the hump…more than halfway.
Day 23 – Cahors to Lascabanes
What a crazy climb out of Cahors. A flight of stairs, definitely not for the faint of heart, brought us quickly high above the city.
We walked up and down steep, rocky slopes and through beautiful farmland – like the fields of cantaloupe pictured below.

It was 3:00 and our lodging was still 2-1/2 miles away when we stopped for a cold drink at a trailside rest stop. We must have looked pathetic. The owner (above middle and her partner right) took pity on us and called our host to come pick us up. Our host David, on the left, showed up in that quintessential French car. He loaded us up and deposited us at his charming country compound. It was a wild ride!
Day 24 – Lascabanes to Lauzerte
Somewhere along the trail on day 24, we passed our halfway point. Cause for celebration for sure, but many more miles to go.

Day 25 – Lauzerte to Moissac
Just a very long day!
