Who Were We Kidding?

The discussion began last fall when we had time to kill while camping on the Oregon coast. Always curious about new RV floor plans, Reg pulled into a dealership where we were able to wander through a variety of models without a salesperson breathing down our necks. We’d been mostly happy with our Winnebago. At least we were until I saw the trailer of my dreams. For me, a separate bedroom with a door (not a curtain) and a decent closet. For Reg, a living area recliner…all within/under our towing abilities The downside was the lack of a dinette. When the salesperson caught up with us, he found me hugging and professing my love for the nearly perfect 2024 Rockwood 2516S. I’m sure he thought he had a sale. Then he told us the price. I immediately stepped away.

So we made peace with our trusty “Minnie” the Winnebago and in January we set off for a two-month stay in Tucson. We had a wonderful time, pleased that we could be comfortable in one of the smallest RVs in the park.

Happy with our Winnebago, we called this little spot of Tucson real estate
home for two months.

Our thinking shifted when I discovered a new Rockwood floor plan (2515S) that had all the features we wanted including a dinette, something I refused to give up. By the end of our time in Tucson, we had planned and reserved a lengthy summer trip, resulting in an ongoing discussion about the merits and pitfalls of trading our Winnebago for the Rockwood.

We left Tucson happy with our decision to keep Minnie for the foreseeable future…until Reg brokered the Deal of the Century on the 2515S model we discovered for sale in Washington. Who were we kidding? With an offer too good to pass up, we soon found ourselves waving goodbye to Minnie as we drove away with our new Rockwood Mini Lite.

Although the new trailer is taller and wider (but still just a hair under 26 feet), we will continue be one of the smallest trailers in any campground or RV park. Let the adventures begin!

    1. I think we need to get to know it better before bestowing a name.
