Icons of the Atlantic Provinces

Adirondack chairs offer a view of distant Gros Morne Mountain.

Nothing symbolizes vacation relaxation more than an iconic Adirondack chair. As we explored Canadaโ€™s Atlantic Provinces, red ones kept popping up in the most surprising locations. Often they were placed several miles from a trailhead, inviting us to sit, but leaving us wondering who had wrestled them through trees, over rocks and up and down stairs.

Not all these photos were taken in Gros Morne National Park, but they are a good representation of some of the unexpected locations where we stumbled upon Adirondacks.

Eventually, curiosity got the better of Reg and with a little research he discovered where it all startedโ€ฆat least we learned why so many chairs were scattered about Gros Morne National Park.

From Parks Canada website.

Weโ€™ve packed up our memories and with our Canadian adventure in the rear view mirror, the grueling journey home has begun. Perhaps weโ€™ll come across an Adirondack chair or two along the way and recapture one last bit of vacation relaxation. Iโ€™ll let you know if we do.

Red is by far the most popular color for Adirondack chairs in Canada, but not the only color.

I remember seeing the red ones sprinkled around Michigan too-always in pretty settings-love seeing them but for short people the Adirondack chair is not very comfortable.

    1. Iโ€™m not sure anyone thinks they are designed for comfort. ๐Ÿ™‚
