Via Francigena Those Bloomin’ Flowers

Day 17

The sun rose out our bedroom window on day 17.

Once again our day began with a hike uphill. There really wasn’t reason to complain though. Our day was another short one. Just 11 miles with only 800 feet of climbing. After a quick stop at the corner bar for sandwiches, we climbed as high as we could go in Montefiascone before plunging down to the valley below.

The wildflowers were spectacular. Red, bright yellow and an occasional purple flower covered the fields on either side of the trail.

Beneath their hat, this person immersed themselves in the floral experience.

Definitely not our favorite city. Our room was very nice, but the next morning we would realize that the charm was farther along the path.
