Leprechauns And 4-Leaf Clovers

After a quick, overnight stop in Seattle, Washington, we met up with son, Andrew and daughter-in-law, Charlotte to help them move and get settled…across the pond…in Dublin, Ireland.

Many of you are aware of their plans, but for those of you who haven’t yet heard, here’s a quick catch-up. After much planning and paperwork, many phone calls and consultations, housecleaning and packing and a host of other details, they are excited and looking forward to life in Ireland.
Our overnight flight left Tuesday evening, landing Wednesday afternoon just before 1:00 P.M. Dublin time. After helping wrestle multiple pieces of luggage up to their apartment, Reg and I headed to our downtown hotel room where we showered, ate and promptly fell asleep.

This was not Andrew’s first time driving on the left, but Reg provided a second pair of eyes to make sure he stayed on the right side of the road…which is actually the left. It’s all so confusing!
With Charlotte navigating from the backseat, our Thursday outing was to IKEA for a few essentials. Does anyone ever get out of there without a cart full of “stuff?”

Friday, Reg and I took advantage of the sunshine and did some exploring across the river from our city center hotel. The Temple Bar District is located on the south bank of the River Liffey. It’s a popular tourist destination and home to the city center’s nightlife.

Constructed in the early thirteenth century on the site of a Viking settlement, Dublin Castle served for centuries as the headquarters of English, and later British, administration in Ireland. In 1922, following Ireland’s independence, Dublin Castle was handed over to the new Irish government. It is now a major government complex and a key tourist attraction. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Tomorrow we have more errands to run with Andrew and Charlotte, then we’ve been promised a Sunday drive somewhere outside of the city. Can’t wait.
