The time for a girls trip was long overdue. Hello New York City!
Just over 45 years ago Jamey, my longtime friend and college roommate, and I packed our bags (multiple big bags!) and flew to Hawaii for a two-week, summer adventure where we were hosted by my nearly life-long friend Denise (and her family). Receiving the “Royal Hawaiian” treatment, we made an outlandishly colorful pair on the flight home. So much so that, dressed as we were, Denise’s boyfriend (now husband) Bill refused to be seen in public with us.

We arrived in New York City eager to experience as much of what The Big Apple had to offer as possible.
Fast forward to 2024. A bit of whirlwind planning found us aboard a non-stop flight to New York City, a trip we’ve been talking and dreaming about for easily 15 years. For two somewhat indecisive planners, we were surprisingly efficient at pulling the main details together.
This was Jamey’s first trip to NYC. I’d been once with my family at age 10, but that was so long ago it hardly counts. Reg and I took a week-long, pre-retirement vacation to The Big Apple that left me eager to return.
So, Jamey and I hopped on a red eye flight to JFK Airport. We hit the ground running at 7:30. A.M., covering as much territory as we possibly could during our 4-day stay. We found New Yorkers exceptionally friendly and helpful, the sights and sounds of the city iconic and the weather absolutely perfect.
We had a blast! Did we see it all? No, not quite. Plenty of reasons to return one day.
