Continuous Travelers – Arrivals And Departures

As June slowly departed, we found ourselves anxiously awaiting the arrival of July. Although we’ve kept busy exploring all that the Shenandoah Valley has to offer, June has been a long month for us.
The last three months we have been parked at Walnut Hills Campground & RV Park. While it was comfortable and convenient, it was finally time to leave. With summer in full swing and a heatwave on the way our peaceful hilltop escape had run its course.

For now, we have parked our trailer in a safe place. It will be interesting to see if, or when, we begin to miss the lifestyle.

We are left with just over a week to fill before we sign the official papers that will make us homeowners once again. This time it seems it will really happen. Our Realtor came through for us in so many ways. Most importantly, she had a heads-up on the sale and we made an offer prior to the home hitting the real estate listings.
The home we are buying has nearly everything we wanted and (after spending the last eight months in a 26’ trailer), more than we need. Fingers crossed that all continues to go as planned.
Meanwhile, we will spend several days exploring Asheville, North Carolina, then a quick trip up to Charleston, West Virginia to visit our newest family arrival. Our son Chris and his wife Gail are proud new parents of a healthy (and beautiful, of course) baby girl, so exciting times for them and for us.

But first…

Main Street in Jonesborough, Tennessee.

On the way to North Carolina, we detoured to check out Jonesborough, Tennessee, the state’s oldest town. Established in 1779, the town features 72 historic structures-perfectly preserved examples of the American frontier and Victorian era.
We parked and strolled up and down Main Street, peeking in windows and admiring the beautiful old buildings. We didn’t spend much time dilly-dallying. The promised record-breaking temperatures chased us back to the truck and into some air-conditioned comfort.

We have three days to fill here in Asheville, North Carolina. Reg made a list of things to see and do. Many, or maybe most, involve the outdoors. Mother Nature is playing a rotten trick on us with the nearly triple-digit temperatures. The morning of our first full day, we ordered a power breakfast and sat down to reevaluate. I’ll let you know if we have any brainstorms.

In addition to breakfast scoring high on the healthy eating chart, it also included a touch of color.
