For all our loyal followers, be assured that carryoncouple will continue to post, sharing our adventures as we have done for thirteen years. However, we have finally signed our names on the dotted lines and received the keys to our new (older) home, signaling the end of the “continuous” phase of our travel life.
Nine months ago, in Ashland, Oregon, we packed a 5’ x 10’ storage shed with a few items we (mostly I) wanted to keep. Brad and Ashley filled a van with things they could use and everything else was donated.

Today we signed the final papers and became homeowners in Staunton, Virginia. This historical little town of nearly 27,000 quickly captured our hearts. Situated just 15 minutes from the intersection of the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive through Shenandoah National Park, we find more to love in this mountain community every day.

This afternoon we made a trip to our storage shed to begin moving things into the house that is ours, but doesn’t yet really feel like ours. It will take some time.

Soon we will have Virginia driver’s licenses and that will put an end to our Continuous Travelers identification and adventure. Other than leaving friends and family behind, I don’t think either of has any regrets. We’ve seen some new places and made friends along the way. Now it’s time to settle in and learn about this new place we call home.
