We have found discovering the historic center of Verona to be every bit as exciting as Rome…upon our arrival, we located the property management office for our rental and were warmly greeted by Daniella (and her excellent English). After signing some paperwork, she pulled out a map and marked an “x” where the grocery store could be found and another for our apartment. She then handed us our keys, waved arrivederci and sent us on our way.
We have found a new surprise around every corner…a simple turn left or right has led us to a tiny restaurant on an otherwise deserted passageway or a beautifully ornate church looming overhead.
Our apartment is just around the corner from Piazza Erbe, named after the city's old herb market. Today it is filled with a variety of vendors who sell everything from fresh produce to umbrellas. Restaurants and bars line one side while retailers fill the other.
Ah, yes Verona! Went to the open air opera there. So romantic!

Yes, and we see that Rod Stewart, Elton John and others have performed in the arena. Nothing like that while we are here, though.

They have a market just for herbs! What a life!

Yes! We just went to a market for just wine…I think it was a bar, but now I am not so sure. But the drink was great!
