Ashland warms to winter recreation

Mt. Ashland, at about 7,500 feet, is about a 40-minute drive from town.

Ice skates, snowboards and skis are signs of winter in Ashland, Oregon. Daily and evening ice-skating runs through March across from Lithia Park while Mount Ashland has opened all four of its lifts. Due to lack of snow last year, the ski resort did not open for the first time in 60 years.

Brad and Leah enjoyed night skating the day after Christmas.

Looks like a lot of fun. I used to ice skate in Wheeling on a pond at the Park. We met there and took turns being the first to test the strength of the ice. Somehow we managed to have a wood fire and toasted marshmallows. It was fun but better than that were the sled rides down the hill where I lived. Oh to be young again!! I loved the pictures on your Christmas card with your whole family. I was arranging my decorations for Christmas and thinking back to when you brought me some bears from Yosemite. There is a bear for each son. Thank goodness for memories. Keep on having fun and don’t book any flights with Malaysian (sp?.) Airlines.
